vs
Framer vs Wix
Wix is an all-in-one builder for running a small business online. Framer is a design tool that publishes websites. They suit different companies, and the choice is usually clear once you know what the site is for.
The short answer
Choose Framer if you’re a software or AI company that needs a custom, design-led site that changes as fast as the product. Choose Wix if you run a small business and want bookings, a store and other business tools in one place, set up from a template. We build in Framer. We don’t build on Wix.
At a glance
Editing
A freeform canvas close to Figma. Editors change text and CMS items on the live page.
A drag-and-drop editor built for beginners. Wix Studio adds more control for designers and agencies.
CMS
Collections for blogs, case studies, changelogs and similar content, with plan limits.
Wix CMS collections for dynamic pages, with Velo for code-driven data.
Design control
High. Custom layouts, components, effects and animation.
Template-led in the standard editor. More freedom in Wix Studio.

Learning curve
Short for designers. Content editing is simple for everyone.
Very short. Made for people building their first site.

B2B software and AI companies, launch sites and product marketing sites.
Local businesses, service providers and small online stores.
How to decide
What the site is for
Choose Framer if
The site has to explain a product and bring the right visitors to a sales conversation.
Choose Wix if
The site has to take bookings, sell products or run day-to-day business tasks.
How much the design matters
Choose Framer if
Your brand needs custom layouts, motion and pages that look like nobody else’s.
Choose Wix if
A well-chosen template, adjusted to your brand, does the job.
Who builds and runs it
Choose Framer if
A designer or studio builds it and your team keeps it up to date.
Choose Wix if
You want to build and run it yourself with no design help.
Which tools you need built in
Choose Framer if
Your tools already live elsewhere, such as your CRM, scheduling tool and product app, and the site connects to them.
Choose Wix if
You want bookings, payments and customer messaging on the same platform as the site.
What happens if you move later
Choose Framer if
You want your CMS content to stay portable. Framer CMS content can be exported to CSV or JSON with plugins.
Choose Wix if
You expect to stay. Wix CMS collections export as CSV. Wix says blog posts can’t currently be exported to other platforms.
What it costs
Both charge a monthly plan per site. Wix bundles business features, such as payments and bookings, into its plans. Framer charges add-ons for extra pages, CMS items, locales and editor seats.
The plans cost about the same, so the build and your team’s time decide this one. A custom Framer site costs more to make than a Wix template. In return, every page can be shaped around how your product is explained.
How we help
We design in Figma and build in Framer and Webflow. If Wix is the right tool for what you need, we’ll say so.
For software and AI companies, we design and build Framer sites the team can run after launch. Peak3 is one example: a Framer site with 17 page templates and six CMS collections, where the team updates the content and the templates hold the layout. We’re an Official Framer Expert.
If you’ve outgrown a Wix site, we can move it to Framer. See Wix to Framer.
