Framer vs HubSpot
Plenty of B2B teams run marketing in HubSpot and wonder if the website should live there too. HubSpot Content Hub keeps pages, CRM and reporting in one system. Framer gives your design team full control of the site and connects to HubSpot for the rest.
The short answer
Choose Framer if your design team should own the site and HubSpot stays as the CRM behind it. Choose HubSpot Content Hub if marketing runs everything in HubSpot and wants pages that change with CRM data, with reporting in the same place. We build in Framer and can connect it to HubSpot. We don’t build HubSpot themes.
At a glance
Editing
A freeform canvas close to Figma. Editors change text and CMS items on the live page.
A drag-and-drop editor that works inside a theme’s modules. The theme sets how much layout freedom editors have.
CMS
Collections for blogs, case studies and similar content, with plan limits. HubDB tables or a HubSpot blog can be synced in with Framer’s HubSpot plugin.
Blog, website and landing pages, plus HubDB tables for structured data, all connected to the CRM.
Design control
High. Custom layouts, components, effects and animation.
Depends on the theme. Custom themes are built in HubL, HubSpot’s templating language, usually by a HubSpot developer.
Hosting
Hosted by Framer.
Hosted by HubSpot.
Integrations
Framer’s HubSpot plugin adds forms, meeting booking, chat and tracking. Other tools connect through plugins and embeds.
Native to the HubSpot CRM, with smart content on Professional and Enterprise tiers, plus the HubSpot App Marketplace.
Learning curve
Short for designers.
Familiar for teams already in HubSpot. Theme development is a specialist skill.
Typical fit
Design-led marketing sites for teams that use HubSpot as their CRM.
Marketing teams that run campaigns, personalization and reporting entirely in HubSpot.
How to decide
Who owns the site
Choose Framer if
The design team owns the site and wants to ship changes without a theme developer.
Choose HubSpot if
Marketing operations owns the site and wants it managed alongside emails, workflows and the CRM.
Personalization
Choose Framer if
Every visitor can see the same pages, and you tailor messages through campaigns and dedicated landing pages.
Choose HubSpot if
Pages need to change based on who is visiting. Smart content can switch modules by segment membership, device type or referral source on Professional and Enterprise tiers.
How much the design matters
Choose Framer if
The site has to explain a complex product with custom layouts, motion and interactive sections.
Choose HubSpot if
A well-built theme with consistent modules covers your pages.
Reporting
Choose Framer if
You’re happy to track visits and form fills through HubSpot’s tracking code and forms on a Framer site.
Choose HubSpot if
You want page performance, attribution and contact records in one system with no extra setup.
Who builds new pages
Choose Framer if
Designers build new pages and marketers update content.
Choose HubSpot if
Marketers build most new pages from existing modules, and a developer extends the theme when needed.
What it costs
HubSpot Content Hub
HubSpot Content Hub is sold in tiers, and features such as smart content need the higher ones. If you already pay for a high tier of Marketing Hub, adding the website there may feel natural. Custom theme work adds developer cost.
Framer
Framer is a separate monthly plan per site, with add-ons for extra pages, CMS items, locales and editors. HubSpot stays in place as your CRM, and the plugin connects the two.
For most B2B teams, time is the deciding cost. Think about who will build new pages each month and how long each one takes on each platform.
How we help
We design in Figma and build in Framer and Webflow. If your team needs a site that runs entirely inside HubSpot, a HubSpot specialist will suit you better, and we’ll say so.
If HubSpot is your CRM, we can build the site in Framer and connect the two when the scope includes it. Framer’s HubSpot plugin adds HubSpot forms, meeting booking, chat and tracking, and it can sync HubDB tables or a HubSpot blog into the site. Our Peak3 build, for example, connected HubSpot. We’re an Official Framer Expert.
