Move your site from Wix to Framer
A plan for moving from a Wix site to a custom Framer site when your company has outgrown the template. We carry your content across and redirect every URL that changes.
When the move makes sense, and when it doesn’t
Move to Framer if:
•
You’re launching, moving upmarket or changing the product, and the site no longer explains it well enough.
•
You need custom layouts, motion and page types that a template can’t give you.
•
A designer or studio will build the site, and your team will keep it updated.
•
Your tools, such as your CRM, scheduling and product app, already live outside Wix.
Stay on Wix if:
•
Wix Bookings, Stores, Events or other built-in business apps run part of your business.
•
You want to keep building and running the site yourself, with no outside help.
•
The site does its job today and nothing about the business is changing soon.
What moves over and what gets rebuilt
Pages
Rebuilt in Framer. Wix sites run only on Wix’s servers and can’t be exported, so the design is rebuilt from scratch or redesigned.
CMS content
Wix CMS collections export as CSV and import into Framer’s CMS.
Blog posts
Wix says blog posts can’t currently be exported to other platforms. We move them by hand, or with a scripted import from the live pages for larger blogs, then check every post.
SEO and redirects
We copy titles, descriptions and social images for every page and post. Every URL that changes gets a redirect in Framer, and wildcard redirects can cover a whole group of paths.
Forms
Rebuilt in Framer and connected to your inbox, CRM or a webhook.
Integrations
Wix apps, such as chat, bookings and pop-ups, are replaced with tools that work on Framer, or retired.
Media
Images, video and files are downloaded from Wix and uploaded to Framer.
Domain
If your domain is registered with Wix, it can stay there and point to Framer, or move to another registrar.
The plan, step by step
01
Site review
We list every live URL and check Search Console and analytics to see which pages bring traffic, leads and backlinks.
02
Content inventory
Every page, post, collection, form, app and file goes into one sheet, each marked keep, merge, rewrite or retire.
03
Redirect map
Each old URL gets its new address. Where a path can stay the same, it does. Retired pages point to the closest relevant page, since search engines can treat a redirect to the homepage as a missing page.
04
Rebuild
We design and build the site in Framer, then import CMS content and blog posts.
05
QA
We check every page on desktop and mobile, test every form, compare metadata against the inventory and test the redirects before launch.
06
Launch
We publish, point the domain to Framer, confirm the redirects are live and submit the new sitemap in Search Console.
07
Post-launch checks
For the period agreed in the scope, we watch Search Console for 404s, crawl errors and changes in indexed pages, and fix anything that slipped through.
Risks and how we avoid them
Rankings
Some movement is normal while Google recrawls a moved site, and Google says new URLs can take a few weeks or more to show. Keeping URLs the same where possible, and using permanent redirects for the rest, gives search engines the clearest signal.
Broken links
Wix uses its own URL patterns for blog posts and dynamic pages. The site review lists all of them, and the redirect map covers each one, including pages that aren’t in the navigation. Google recommends keeping redirects for at least a year, so the map is handed over with the site.
Blog content
Wix blog posts don’t export, so they’re the part most likely to lose formatting, images or metadata on the way. We check each post against the original before launch.
CMS limits
We count collections and items against Framer’s plan limits before you commit.
How we handle it
We design in Figma and build in Framer and Webflow. Leaving Wix is often a good moment to rethink how the site explains the product. Daniel G. Bright leads strategy, creative direction and every relationship, and specialist designers and developers handle production and builds. We’re an Official Framer Expert.
We scope and price each move as a flat-fee website project, agreed in writing before work starts.
