Move your site from Wix to Webflow

A plan for moving from Wix to Webflow when your content and your team have outgrown the builder. We map every URL first, so old links land on the right new page.

When the move makes sense, and when it doesn’t

Move to Webflow if:

•

The site has to explain your product in more depth than a template allows, with page types such as case studies, integrations or a resource library.

•

You publish structured content and want collections that link to each other, such as posts, authors and topics.

•

Someone on your team, or a partner, will own the build and keep the structure tidy.

•

Your CRM, booking and product tools already live outside Wix.

Stay on Wix if:

•

Wix Bookings, Stores, Events or another built-in business app runs part of your business.

•

You want to keep building and running the site yourself.

•

The site does its job today and nothing about the business is changing soon.

What moves over and what gets rebuilt

Part of the site

What happens

Pages

Rebuilt in Webflow. Wix sites run only on Wix and can’t be exported, so the design is rebuilt or redesigned.

CMS content

Wix CMS collections export as CSV. We clean each file, map each field and import it into Webflow collections.

Blog posts

Wix says blog posts can’t currently be exported to other platforms. We move them by hand, or with a scripted import from the live pages for larger blogs, then check every post.

SEO and redirects

Titles, descriptions and social images are copied for every page and post. Every URL that changes gets a 301 redirect in Webflow.

Forms

Rebuilt as Webflow forms and connected to your inbox, CRM or automation tool.

Integrations

Wix apps, such as chat, bookings and pop-ups, are replaced with tools that work on Webflow, or retired.

Media

Images, video and files are downloaded from Wix and uploaded to Webflow’s asset library.

Domain

If Wix is your registrar, the domain can stay there and point to Webflow, or move to another registrar.

The plan, step by step

01

Site review

We list every live URL, including blog and dynamic pages, and check Search Console and analytics for the pages that bring traffic, leads and links.

02

Content inventory

Every page, post, collection, form, app and file goes into one sheet, marked keep, merge, rewrite or retire.

03

Redirect map

Each old URL gets its new address. Webflow CMS pages live under their collection’s path, so we name collections to keep URLs the same where we can. A collection with the slug “post” keeps Wix’s blog addresses as they are. Retired pages point to the closest relevant page, since search engines can treat a redirect to the homepage as a missing page.

04

Rebuild

We set up the class system, components and templates in Webflow, then import the content.

05

QA

We check every page on desktop and mobile, test every form and redirect, and compare metadata against the inventory.

06

Launch

We publish, point the domain to Webflow, confirm the redirects are live and submit the new sitemap in Search Console.

07

Post-launch checks

For the period agreed in the scope, we watch Search Console for missing pages and indexing changes, and fix what slipped through.

Risks and how we avoid them

Rankings

Some movement is normal while Google recrawls a moved site, and new URLs can take a few weeks to settle. Keeping URLs the same where possible, and using permanent redirects for the rest, gives search engines the clearest signal.

Broken links

Wix uses its own URL patterns for posts, categories and dynamic pages. The site review lists all of them. Webflow redirects can match patterns, so a whole group of old URLs can point to the new structure with one rule. Keep the redirects in place for at least a year.

Blog formatting

Posts moved by hand or by script are where formatting, images and alt text slip. We check each post against the original before launch.

CMS limits

We count collections and items against Webflow’s plan limits before you commit.

How we handle it

We design in Figma and build in Webflow and Framer. Leaving Wix is a good moment to rethink how the site explains your product. Daniel G. Bright leads strategy, creative direction and the relationship on every project, with specialist designers and developers on production and build.

We scope and price each move as a flat-fee website project, agreed in writing before work starts. See Webflow websites for what a build includes.
