PostHog
If your product already runs on PostHog, the marketing site can report into the same place. Then you can follow a visitor from the homepage to signup, and on into the product.
What PostHog is
PostHog is a product analytics platform. It covers event analytics, web analytics, session replay, heatmaps, feature flags, A/B tests and surveys in one tool. It offers US and EU cloud hosting and a monthly free tier.
How it fits on your site
PostHog is installed with a JavaScript snippet and your project token.
Framer: add the snippet in the site’s custom code settings.
Webflow: add the snippet in the site’s custom code settings.
One project for site and product. If the site and the app share a root domain, such as yourcompany.com and app.yourcompany.com, PostHog can follow the same visitor from the site into the app, using a cookie shared across your subdomains. Signups are then tied to the pages that led to them.
A/B tests. PostHog can test two versions of a page section, such as the hero, and measure the result on signups or booked calls.
Where the scope includes it, we install PostHog and set up the events agreed with your team.
What you get
PostHog installed on every page
Events for the actions that matter, agreed before launch
A handover note listing what’s tracked and where to find it
What to watch out for
Agree the events first
Autocapture records a lot of clicks. Name the few events that matter, such as a booked call or a signup, so they’re easy to find.
Consent
PostHog uses a cookie by default. It can run without one, with less accurate visitor counts, and session replay and surveys then need consent. Your legal team decides what’s required.
Page weight
Session replay and surveys add script. Turn on only what your team will use.
Tests need traffic
On low-traffic pages, an A/B test can take months to show a real difference.
