Microsoft Clarity
Clarity gives you heatmaps and session recordings at no cost. For a marketing site, that’s often enough to see where visitors get stuck.
What Microsoft Clarity is
Microsoft Clarity is a free behavior analytics tool. It records sessions, builds click and scroll heatmaps and flags signals such as rage clicks, dead clicks and quick backs. It also has a Google Analytics integration.
How it fits on your site
Clarity is installed with a tracking snippet in the site’s head, or through Google Tag Manager.
Framer: add the snippet in the site’s custom code settings.
Webflow: add the snippet in the site’s custom code settings.
A typical use after launch is the homepage scroll heatmap. It shows how many visitors reach the section that explains the product. If few do, that section moves up.
Where the scope includes it, we install Clarity on your account and check it records.
What you get
Clarity installed on every page
Sensitive content masked in recordings
A handover note on what’s set up and where
What to watch out for
Consent
Microsoft requires a consent signal for visitors from some regions, including the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland, and has enforced it since October 2025. Plan Clarity into your consent banner. Your legal team decides what’s required.
Masking
Clarity masks sensitive input by default. Check any page that shows personal data.
One recorder
Clarity, Hotjar and PostHog overlap. Running two adds weight for little gain.
Patterns over single sessions
One odd recording rarely means a problem. Look for the same behavior across many visits.
