Hotjar
Analytics tells you where visitors leave. Hotjar shows what they did on the page first: where they clicked and how far they scrolled.
What Hotjar is
Hotjar is a behavior analytics tool. Heatmaps show clicks and scroll depth across a page. Session recordings replay individual visits. It also runs on-page surveys and feedback widgets. Hotjar is now part of Contentsquare, and new accounts are created through Contentsquare.
How it fits on your site
Hotjar is installed with a tracking snippet in the site’s head.
Framer: paste the snippet into the site’s custom code settings, or load it through Google Tag Manager.
Webflow: paste it into the site’s custom code settings, which need a paid plan, or load it through Google Tag Manager.
A typical use after launch is to watch recordings of visitors who reach the pricing page and leave without booking a call. Look for the section where most of them stop.
Where the scope includes it, we install Hotjar on your account and check it records correctly.

Privacy and consent
Recordings capture behavior on the page. Mask form fields, and check whether your visitors’ regions require consent first. Your legal team decides.
One recording is a story
Look for the same behavior across many sessions before changing a page.
Plan limits
Plans cap how many sessions are recorded.
Pick one tool
Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity and PostHog overlap. Running two adds weight and splits your attention.
