Google Analytics

A new site should launch with a clear way to see what visitors do on it. Google Analytics 4 is the most common place to start.

What Google Analytics is

Google Analytics 4, or GA4, is Google’s free web analytics tool. It records visits and the actions visitors take, such as page views, clicks and form submissions, as events. The actions that matter most to your business can be marked as key events, so you can see which pages and sources lead to them. GA4 is often paired with Google Search Console, which shows how the site appears in Google search.

How it fits on your site

Framer has its own built-in analytics and also accepts a GA4 measurement ID in the site settings, so GA4 can run alongside it.

Webflow accepts a GA4 measurement ID in the site settings too. For more control, both platforms can load Google Tag Manager through custom code.

Where the scope includes it, we connect GA4 to your new site and set up the key events agreed with your team, such as a Book a call click, a demo request or a newsletter sign-up.

What you get

  • GA4 connected to the site, using your team’s own Google account

  • Key events for the actions that matter, agreed before launch

  • A handover note listing what is tracked and where to find it

What to agree before launch

Which actions count. Pick the few actions that show real interest, such as a booked call or a demo request. Tracking everything makes the important numbers harder to find.

Who owns the account. GA4 should sit in your company’s Google account, with your team as administrators. Then the data stays with you if suppliers change.

Consent. GA4 uses cookies. Depending on where your visitors are, you may need a cookie consent banner, and Google’s consent settings may need configuring. Your legal team decides what’s required.

Continuity through a redesign. If the site is being rebuilt, keep the same GA4 property so you can compare before and after. Redirects from old URLs help keep search traffic and links working.

What to watch out for

Numbers rarely match across tools

Framer’s analytics, GA4 and your CRM count visits and conversions differently. Pick one as the reference for each question.

Analytics shows what happened, and rarely why

Pair the numbers with what you hear on sales calls before changing the site.
