Website redesign

A website redesign is a substantial rework of a site’s structure, message, design or build, usually because the current site no longer matches the company, product or buyer.

What it means in practice

Redesigns vary in size. Some keep the platform and content and update the visual design. Others rewrite the messaging, restructure the navigation, rebuild on a new platform and migrate the content. Knowing which kind you need is the first decision.

A redesign usually follows a familiar order. Agree on goals and audience, review what works and what doesn’t, and settle messaging and structure. Then design key pages, build and test, and launch with redirects and tracking in place. Teams that skip the early steps often end up with a site that looks better and has the same problems as the old one.

Redesigns also carry risk. Changing URLs without redirects can lose search rankings, and changing everything at once makes it hard to know what improved results.

Why it matters for B2B and AI teams

B2B and AI companies outgrow their websites fast. A site built for the first few customers rarely serves a company selling to enterprise, and a site built for one product struggles when there are three.

Common triggers are a move upmarket, a launch, a new product line, a rebrand, earlier work that didn’t land, or a site that’s become hard to maintain. For AI companies, the product often changes so fast that the site describes last year’s version. A redesign is a chance to set up a structure and CMS that can keep up.

How we approach it

We redesign websites for B2B software and AI teams. Design happens in Figma, and when the build is in scope, we build in Framer or Webflow. Design-only and design + build are different scopes, so we agree which one you need at the start, along with what needs to change. We review the direction with you before wider production, then complete the scope and hand over.

For OpaqAI, which works in AI agent governance, we designed a new four-page website. We redrew the core diagram so OpaqAI shows up only where it acts, and OpaqAI’s team built the site.

FAQ

If the problems are specific, such as a weak headline, missing proof or slow pages, targeted updates may be enough. If the message, structure and platform all need work, a redesign is usually more efficient.

It can, if URLs change without redirects or valuable content is removed. Planning redirects, keeping content that ranks and checking technical SEO before launch protects most of your rankings.

Change platforms when the current one limits what the team needs, such as editing speed, design control or CMS structure. A redesign is a convenient moment to migrate, but it adds scope and risk.
