vs
Webflow vs Wix
Wix is built for small businesses that want to set up and run their site themselves. Webflow is built for teams that want a custom, content-led site with a strong CMS. For most software and AI companies, it comes down to how much the site has to grow.
The short answer
Choose Webflow if you need a custom marketing site with structured content, such as case studies, integrations and a resource library, that a team will grow over time. Choose Wix if you want an all-in-one builder with bookings, a store and other business apps, and you plan to run it yourself. We build in Webflow. We don’t build on Wix.
At a glance
Editing
A visual builder based on HTML and CSS concepts. Editors get a limited role for text, images and CMS items.
A drag-and-drop editor built for beginners. Wix Studio adds more control for designers and agencies.
CMS
Collections with reference fields and plan limits. Premium includes 40 collections and 20,000 items.
Wix CMS collections for dynamic pages, with Velo for code-driven data.
Design control
High and precise. Every style maps to CSS, with interactions for motion.
Template-led in the standard editor. More freedom in Wix Studio.
Hosting
Hosted by Webflow. Some paid Workspace plans can export static code.
Hosted by Wix. Wix sites can’t be moved to another host.
Integrations
App marketplace, CMS API, custom code, ecommerce and a localization add-on.
Built-in business apps, such as bookings, stores and events, plus the Wix App Market.
Learning curve
Steeper. Easier for people who know CSS.
Very short. Made for people building their first site.
Typical fit
Content-led B2B marketing sites and teams with a Webflow developer.
Local businesses, service providers and small online stores.
How to decide
How much content you’ll publish
Choose Webflow if
Content is a growth channel and you need several linked collections, such as posts, authors, use cases and integrations.
Choose Wix if
A few pages and a simple blog cover what you publish.
How custom the design needs to be
Choose Webflow if
The design should be built exactly as drawn, with precise control over layout and motion.
Choose Wix if
A template adjusted to your brand is enough.
Who builds and runs it
Choose Webflow if
A designer, developer or studio builds it and your team edits content afterward.
Choose Wix if
You want to build and run it yourself without design or development help.
Which tools you need built in
Choose Webflow if
Your CRM, scheduling and product tools live elsewhere and the site connects to them through apps, embeds or the API.
Choose Wix if
You want bookings, payments and customer messaging on the same platform as the site.
How portable you want it to be
Choose Webflow if
You want your content to stay portable. CMS collections export as CSV, and static code can be exported on some paid Workspace plans.
Choose Wix if
You expect to stay. Wix CMS collections export as CSV. Wix says blog posts can’t currently be exported to other platforms.
What it costs
Webflow
Webflow charges a Site plan for each site and a Workspace plan for the people who build it. The Basic site plan has no CMS, so a CMS site needs a higher plan.
Wix
Wix charges a monthly plan per site, with business features such as payments and bookings bundled into the plans.
The build usually costs more than either plan. A custom Webflow build costs more to make than a Wix template, and it gives you a site and CMS that can grow with the company. Weigh the build against how long you expect the site to serve you.
How we help
We design in Figma and build in Webflow and Framer. If Wix is the right tool for what you need, we’ll say so.
For software and AI companies, we design and build Webflow sites with a CMS your team can manage after launch. Our Webflow work includes Arteway, where we designed the brand and built the website for an online art school taught from working artists’ studios.
If you’ve outgrown a Wix site, we can rebuild it in Webflow or Framer and redirect your old URLs. See Wix to Webflow and Wix to Framer.
