What it means in practice
CRO starts with measurement. Define the action that matters, track how many visitors complete it and find where people drop off. Analytics, heatmaps, session recordings, form analytics and buyer interviews all show what’s in the way.
Then come changes, ranked by likely impact and effort. Typical ones are clearer headlines, proof near the decision, shorter forms, faster pages, fewer competing calls to action and a closer match between ads and the pages they lead to. Sites with enough traffic test changes with A/B tests. Smaller sites make research-based changes and watch the trend.
CRO works best on a site with a clear message, because most of the gain usually comes from clarity. Visitors need to see what the product is, who it’s for and why the next step is worth taking. Button colors come a long way after that.
Why it matters for B2B and AI teams
Traffic is expensive for B2B companies, whether it comes from ads, content or events. Converting more of the visitors you already have is often cheaper than buying more.
The right goal is usually qualified conversions. A form that doubles leads who never buy has added work for sales and nothing else. Tracking which conversions turn into pipeline keeps the effort honest.
AI products have an extra step. Many visitors arrive curious and unsure what the product does. A page that explains it plainly gives them a reason to stay and take the next step.
How we approach it
We work on the part of conversion that comes from clarity: the message, page structure, proof and one clear next step. We don’t guarantee conversion or revenue results, and any result we share comes from real data cleared for publication.
FAQ
It varies widely by traffic source, offer and price. Compare your site with its own past performance. Industry averages mix too many different situations to be useful.
Research-based improvements work at any traffic level. Reliable A/B testing needs enough conversions per version to reach a clear result, which many early-stage sites don’t have yet.
Most teams treat it as ongoing. Products, audiences and campaigns change, and the site has to keep up.
