Google Search Console

Search Console shows which of your pages Google has indexed and which searches bring people to them. Connect it before a new site launches, so you can see the effect of the change.

What Google Search Console is

Google Search Console is a free tool for site owners. It reports which pages are indexed, the queries that show your site, clicks and impressions, crawl errors and Core Web Vitals. You can submit a sitemap and ask Google to recrawl a page. You prove ownership first, with a DNS record or a tag on the site.

How it fits on your site

Framer generates a sitemap at /sitemap.xml automatically when you publish.

Webflow can generate a sitemap automatically, and its SEO settings include a field for Google’s verification code.

Verification. A domain property, verified with a DNS TXT record, covers every subdomain and works the same on any platform. A URL-prefix property can be verified with a tag in the site’s head.

Site changes. When a new site replaces an old one, Search Console is where you submit the new sitemap and watch for missing pages after launch. If the domain itself changes, its Change of Address tool tells Google about the move.

Where the scope includes it, we connect Search Console at launch, submit the sitemap and check indexing for the period agreed in the scope.

What you get

  • Search Console verified on your company’s Google account

  • The sitemap submitted at launch

  • Indexing and errors checked after launch, for the period agreed in the scope

  • A handover note on what to watch and where

What to watch out for

Who owns it

Verify the property with your company’s account. Give outside teams user access, so the property stays with you.

Keep the history

After a redesign, keep the same property. The old data helps you compare before and after.

Indexing takes time

New pages can take days or weeks to appear. Requesting indexing helps for key pages, and Google still decides when.

Numbers differ from analytics

Search Console counts clicks from Google search only, so its numbers won’t match GA4.
