What it means in practice
Identity has a visible side and a readable side. The visible side is the logo, color, typography, graphic elements and imagery. The readable side is voice, key messages and names. Both have to hold up on the website, in the product, in decks and on social.
The rules are what make an identity usable. A logo file on its own gets used differently by everyone who touches it. Once there’s a rule for which version goes where, how type scales from a billboard to a button and which colors carry meaning, the team can apply the identity the same way every time.
Marty Neumeier’s The Brand Gap defines a brand as a person’s gut feeling about a company. The identity is one of the main tools you have for shaping that feeling.
Why it matters for B2B and AI teams
B2B buyers judge how mature a company is quickly, often before they understand the product. An identity that looks unfinished, or looks different on the website, deck and product, raises doubt right when you need trust.
So teams usually invest in identity at specific moments. Common ones are a launch, a move upmarket to buyers who expect an established supplier, or a product that has outgrown a brand made in a hurry.
AI companies have an extra problem. Many AI brands look alike, with the same gradients, the same abstract marks and similar names. A distinctive identity helps buyers tell you apart and remember you after the demo.
How we approach it
Our Brand Sprint is where we do this work, and it’s one of our core offers. When the website needs to change too, brand and site are scoped together as Full BRIGHT. Design happens in Figma. Daniel G. Bright leads strategy and creative direction, and specialist designers handle production. We agree what needs to change, review the direction with you before wider production, then complete the scope and hand over.
For SUPAHUMANS, the work covered brand strategy, identity, logo and wordmark, and a naming review. It was all built on one organizing idea: humans enhanced by AI.
For Vetti, a pet health monitoring brand, the identity is bold in marketing and calm inside the product.
FAQ
It depends on the studio and the scope. A typical project covers logo, color, typography, graphic elements, imagery direction and guidelines, applied to a few key surfaces. Get the scope in writing before you start.
Visual identity is the visible part: logo, color, type, graphics and imagery. Brand identity also includes voice, messaging and naming.
Common moments are before a public launch, before moving upmarket, after the product or offer changes, or when the product has outgrown a brand made in the company’s first weeks.
