The Habit That Changed How I Start My Day (and My Design Work)

The Habit That Changed How I Start My Day (and My Design Work)

Dec 8, 2025

I’ve started doing something new lately. Nothing dramatic. Nothing optimized or Influencer type thing.

Just… going to the beach in the morning with a coffee.

Thirty minutes. Sometimes an hour if I’m slow. No phone. No inbox. Just the sound of water, a little breeze, a good coffee (or Mate) and me trying to wake up like a human being with my morning prayer instead of jumping straight into “designer mode.”

And honestly, It’s been the best part of my day.

There’s something about starting the day with space instead of pressure. With calm instead of noise. With presence instead of productivity.

It reminded me of something I forget way too often:

Good design doesn’t come from rushing. It comes from attention. And attention comes from quiet.

When my morning starts slow and intentional, my work feels different. Cleaner. Lighter. More grounded. More me.

It’s like that little moment at the beach gives my brain permission to arrive before my tasks do.

And in design, especially when you’re moving fast. that matters.

Because design is problem-solving, but it’s also noticing. Noticing what feels off. Noticing what the brand is really trying to say. Noticing where the flow breaks or where the story gets blurry. You can’t notice anything when you’re sprinting the second you wake up.

That beach-coffee ritual became a reminder:

Your habits shape your clarity. Your clarity shapes your work.

I used to think good habits were about efficiency. Now I think they’re about grounding. About keeping you connected to yourself so the work isn’t just executed, it’s felt.

So this is my tiny invitation for you this week: Find one small habit that makes your mornings feel more like yours. Not for productivity. Not to “perform” wellness. Just to be a person for a minute before you start building things.

It doesn’t have to be a beach. It doesn’t have to be coffee. It just has to be yours.

Because the way you start your day shows up in everything you create.
